Clinical Veterinarian

Looking to deliver hands-on veterinary care in an on-campus animal clinic while supporting students, quality treatment and client service?

About the role

As a Casual Clinical Veterinarian at Pets on Elgar Veterinary and Grooming Clinic, you will provide high-quality veterinary medical and surgical care within the animal clinical teaching environment. This role supports the delivery of preventative care, treatment and minor surgical procedures while contributing to the practical education of veterinary nursing and pet grooming students. You will operate in accordance with professional, ethical and regulatory standards, supporting animal welfare, client service outcomes and a safe clinical learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality veterinary medical and surgical care, including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of animals
• Prescribe and administer medications and perform minor surgical procedures within Pets on Elgar
• Support the wellbeing and treatment of animals, reptiles and amphibians in on-site animal facilities
• Provide expert advice and guidance on veterinary practice, animal husbandry and facility standards
• Complete and maintain accurate clinical records and regulatory documentation in line with compliance requirements
• Lead and model safe, compliant and professional clinical and training environments, including WHS and animal welfare standards
• Interact with clients to understand needs and deliver high-quality clinical outcomes
• Work cooperatively with staff, students and others to support team goals and education outcomes

About You

• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality clinical care in a small animal veterinary practice
• Strong knowledge of relevant compliance and regulatory frameworks, including WHS and animal welfare legislation
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and clients
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and records
• Commitment to ethical practice, professional conduct and Institute values

Qualifications / Requirements

• AQF Level 7 qualification or higher in Veterinary Science
• Current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria
• Demonstrated recent experience providing clinical veterinary care
